Are you looking for a natural way to improve your quality of life?

Our clinic offers many ways to restore your health and wellness, one of which is through the ancient method of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and the practice of acupuncture.

Total Care Management will help you find the best treatment and therapy to suits your needs.

Traditional Chinese Medicine 101

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a holistic approach to restoring balance to the mind, body, and soul through a combination of acupuncture, Tai Chi, Chinese herbal products, and others.

TCM has been developed over millennia, is still widely used today all over the world, and every year more research into the various benefits of TCM help us gain an even better understanding of how far it can help individuals. This is why Total Care Management encourages you to speak with our specialists to determine the best treatments for your case.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a major constituent part of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It focuses on the body and its energy pathways (also referred to as “meridians”). This ancient practice works wonders, stimulating the body’s self-healing process through the insertion of needles into predetermined acupoints. Our Mississauga acupuncture specialists work with targeted acupoints, using sterile, micro-thin needles to treat a variety of health conditions while reducing physical pain and stress.

For each session, 10-40 needles are used, depending on the patient. Each needle is inserted into the acupuncture point to a certain depth. Most patients experience mild pressure or tingling, which is a sign that the treatment is working.

What Health Issues Can Acupuncture Effectively Treat?

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), acupuncture has been tested in controlled trials and proven to be an effective treatment for many health conditions, such as:

Does Acupuncture Work Instantly?

Acupuncture requires a number of sessions for it to have a positive and long-lasting effect. It’s essential for patients to speak with their Total Care Management acupuncturist, so they can explain what results they expect by the end. Additionally, the acupuncturist will map out what each session will involve for the patient to gain additional peace of mind.

Are There Risks Involved?

While in some cases a patient may experience some minor soreness after a session, generally these treatments are painless. That said, there can be some minor bleeding and bruising in the locations of the needles, although this is extremely rare.

Certain individuals, such as those that are pregnant, those with pacemakers, or those with a bleeding disorder, should speak with their acupuncturist in advance to ensure that acupuncture is the right treatment given those conditions.
